چکیده

Global event observables are of fundamental importance in characterizing the properties of the strongly interacting medium created in heavy-ion collisions. The ALICE experiment at LHC measured charged particle multiplicity distributions in Pb-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV in a wide pseudo-rapidity range (−5 < η < 5.5) exploiting different techniques. The production of high transverse momentum particles in Pb-Pb relative to pp is studied to characterize the in-medium energy loss. The pseudorapidity distribution of charged particles and the nuclear modification factor for Pb-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV and for p-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV are discussed. The ALICE results are compared to experimental results at lower energies and to theoretical predictions.

Jet structure in pp and Pb-Pb collisions with the ALICE experiment

We report results from the ALICE collaboration on jet production and jet properties in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The charged particle jet production cross-section and measurements of jet fragmentation and jet shape in pp collisions at √ s = 7 TeV are presented. The results are confronted with simulations from Monte Carlo event generators. Measurements of charged particle jets in Pb-Pb...

Strangeness production as a function of charged particle multiplicity in proton-proton collisions

Recent measurements performed in high-multiplicity proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (p-Pb) collisions have shown features that are reminiscent of those observed in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions. These observations warrant a comprehensive measurement of the production of identified particles. We report on the production of K0 S , Λ, Λ, Ξ ± and Ω± at mid-rapidity measured as a function of multip...

Identified light-flavour particle production measured with ALICE at the LHC as a probe of soft QCD and hot hadronic matter

ALICE is a general-purpose heavy-ion experiment able to identify particles over a wide momentum range thanks to excellent vertexing and tracking performance, low material budget and different Particle IDentification (PID) techniques. In this paper the measurement of the production of identified light flavour particles in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions is reported. It is of fundamental importance...

Measurement of multi-particle azimuthal correlations in pp, p + Pb and low-multiplicity Pb + Pb collisions with the ATLAS detector

Multi-particle cumulants and corresponding Fourier harmonics are measured for azimuthal angle distributions of charged particles in pp collisions at √ s = 5.02 and 13 TeV and in p + Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV, and compared to the results obtained for low-multiplicity Pb + Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV. These measurements aim to assess the collective nature of particle production. The...
